This financial analysis lets you know right up front how your new system will benefit you, your family, your business and your community.

Residential Rebates

Excel Energy Solar Voltaic Customer Rebate
Excel Energy provides a one-time residential installation rebate of $2.70 per solar system-rated watt. This includes a $2.00 per watt credit plus a one-time $0.70 per watt renewable energy credit (REC). The REC rewards renewable energy system owners for lowering carbon emissions.

How it Works: Crunching the Numbers
As an example, a 5,000-watt Greenergy system adequately powers homes up to 1,800 square feet. Your Excel Energy rebate for such a system would be:

5,000 watt system x $2.70 rebate per watt = $13,500

Since rebate programs vary by power provider, please contact us for more information.

Federal Tax Credit

Through 2016, you are eligible to receive a one-time tax credit of 30 percent of the total installed price of your Greenergy home-energy system, minus any rebates.

For example, let's say a 5,000-watt energy system costs $30,000. The rebates and tax credit would be calculated as follows:
• Excel energy rebates you $13,500 as illustrated in the above example. This makes your total installed system cost $16,500 before any tax credit.

• The federal government tax credit would be calculated as follows:

$16,500 system price x 30% = $4,950 tax credit

This credit would apply to your income tax return the year of installation.

So after applying both the Xcel Energy rebate and the federal tax credit the total cost would be $11,025-barely 37 percent of the total cost. Note that this lower cost also contributes to a faster breakeven point for your investment.

Commercial Rebates and Incentives

Excel Energy Solar Voltaic Customer Rebate

Excel Energy provides a one-time commercial installation rebate of $2.00 per Solar Voltaic energy-system watt, capped at a maximum of $200,000.
For example, if you install a 50,000-watt renewable-energy system for your business, school or municipality, Excel Energy will rebate you $100,000, (50,000 watts x $2.00 rebate = $100,000).

Federal Tax Credit

In addition to rebates available from your energy provider, you are eligible for a one-time tax credit through 2016. The credit is calculated at 30 percent of the total installed price of your Greenergy system, minus any rebates.

Renewable Energy Credits

Businesses that install solar systems are eligible to receive renewable energy credits. This represents an incentive to you for lowering carbon emissions.

You earn cash credits, paid monthly, for each watt of electricity you produce. The amount you receive per watt varies according to the size of your system as well as a tiered payment schedule.
